PLLDF Flag Initiative

The Pro Life Legal Defense Fund (or PLLDF) is a Massachusetts-based organization which provides pro bono legal assistance to defend the right to life of all human beings from conception to natural death. Recently the group has started a flag campaign, hoping to have churches, Knights of Columbus Councils, Catholic Schools, and other communities in the local Boston area fly a Pro-Life, Pro-Family flag which can be seen pictured above.

This initiative operates under the idea that any piece of Pro-Life activism or public information has the power to save a life. From a Catholic perspective, God is able to provide grace through any action of ours no matter how small.

The flag itself contains at the center, two small feet representing the life of unborn children surrounded by two outstretched hands signifying the protective love of a mother. On the central circle is read “Pro-Life, Pro-Child, Pro-Mother, Pro-Father,” (top, bottom, left, right) which directly states the goals of the PLLDF as well as the Pro-Life movement more broadly. The fight is obviously for the unborn, but also for mothers who may think it is too difficult to carry a child to term, for fathers who may want to keep a child when a mother does not want to, and for all people under the threat of euthanasia.

The flag has already been flying at several places in the area. It is permanently at the Knights of Columbus Council #252 in Norwood, and temporarily flying at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Dedham during their monthly Pro-Life Novena.

The PLLDF hopes that this initiative will take off with churches and other communities in the diocese of Boston. It is important to remember that any piece of Pro-Life activism has the potential power to save a human life and for that reason it is important. With enough awareness and support this project could be a truly strong local outreach program. All are welcome to spread the word, talk to pastors, see if people would be willing to fly the flag. All information on how to get a Pro-Life Pro-Family flag can be further found on the PLLDF’s website.
